HOUSTON — Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman started a new tradition during the 2018 season whenever someone hits a homer: the dugout stare.
It’s become so popular, there are now shirts!
Employees were busy working the presses Friday morning at Trademarks Professional Products in Northwest Houston, making their newest product: t-shirts showing Bregman's face in his famous dugout stare.
“The players picked up on it, then the fans picked up on it, and then that’s our job cause we’re a Major League Baseball Players licensee,” said Steve Holcomb with Fans Only, LLC, which produced the shirts. “Promote good things that are happening in baseball.”
Holcomb says his company had already printed several thousand shirts as of mid-morning and plans to print throughout the next week. Friday is the first day they go on sale.
“They’ll be hitting the Kroger stores today…all day long, and then TodaysChamps.com online,” said Holcomb.
The shirts are available in either orange or blue.
The Astros start their final home stand Friday night at Minute Maid Park against the Angels. The team is one win away from clinching the division.
