HOUSTON — H-Town history was made in the NFL Draft Friday night as the first player ever from Houston Christian University was taken in the NFL Draft.
With the 94th pick in the draft Friday night, the Philadelphia Eagles selected HCU linebacker and defensive end Jalyx Hunt.
Hunt, whose hometown is DeBary, Florida, stands 6 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs around 248 pounds, according to HCU.
Hunt came to Houston Christian from Cornell, where he played two seasons.
In his first year at HCU, he started 11 games and was named second team all-Southland Conference, according to the school's website. He was a defensive force, leading the conference in tackles for loss at 11.5 and forced fumbles at three. He was tied for second in the conference with seven sacks.
Houston Christian University started up its football program in 2013 and joined the Southland Conference in 2014.
