50 years of fierce football rivalry in Baytown

BAYTOWN, Texas - For the 50th year, Baytown Lee High school takes on Baytown Sterling Friday at 7 p.m. at Stallworth stadium.

BAYTOWN, Texas - For the 50th year, Baytown Lee High school takes on Baytown Sterling Friday at 7 p.m. at Stallworth stadium.

This matchup is so big in Baytown it is simply referred to as "The Game."

The big rivalry started back in 1966 when Lee High became so overcrowded that a new school, Sterling, opened up.

Half the kids in Baytown stayed at Lee and half went to the brand new Sterling. It created an intense brother-against-brother rivalry on the football field.

Lee historically has the most wins but in recent years, Sterling has been victorious.

Stallworth Stadium, one of the biggest high school stadiums in the nation, will be filled to capacity. It is neutral ground, in theory. In reality, it is a home turf battlefield for both teams.

Pre-game celebrations at the stadium begin at 5:30 p.m.
