JACKSON, Mississippi — A viral video posted to X, formerly Twitter, shows a Texas Southern University Ocean of Soul band member punching a fan during TSU's matchup against Jackson State University on Saturday.
In the video, which was shared without sound, the fan appears to be yelling at the sousaphone player before the band member threw four punches hitting the man in the face. The sousaphone player promptly returns to playing with the band.
The fan was knocked to the ground in the stands.
TSU on Sunday released a statement addressing the incident, saying in part that they are investigating it.
We've reached out to JSU for a comment but have not heard back at the time this story was posted.
JSU's football team ended up beating TSU, 21-19.
