Houston Cougars to honor three former football players Saturday who were killed in wreck

The team will wear decals with the initials of the three players, who were among six killed in a wreck last weekend.

HOUSTON — This weekend, the Houston Cougars will have a special decal on their helmets in honor of former players D.J. Hayden, Zachary McMillian and Ralph Oragwu.

Last weekend, they were killed along with three others in a car crash.

On Saturday, the University of Houston football team will honor them by wearing ribbons on their helmets with the initials of the players -- DH, ZM and RO.  The game, which is against Oklahoma State, is at 3 p.m. at TDECU Stadium on the University of Houston campus.

The crash happened early Saturday morning on Fannin Street.  D.J. Hayden played nine seasons in the NFL. He last played for Washington just two years ago.

On Saturday, there was a service for Hayden in Houston at the Fountain of Praise on Hillcroft.
