HOUSTON — What does the future hold for Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman following the team’s regular-season finale loss against rival Texas?
After the game, the former 5-star recruit from Cypress walked back onto Kyle Field in his uniform for what appeared to be the last time.
The moment was caught on camera by a crew from KHOU 11’s sister station WFAA.
WFAA’s Mike Leslie said Weigman told them that he just wanted to take in everything Kyle Field had to offer one last time.
Weigman was replaced as the starting quarterback by Marcel Reed during the third quarter of A&M’s come-from-behind 38-23 win over LSU on Oct. 26. Reed went on to lead the Aggies on four straight scoring drives which included three rushing touchdowns.
Reed has remained the starter since then, including Saturday night’s loss to Texas.
Should Weigman enter the transfer portal, he would have two years of eligibility left.
According to 247Sports.com, Weigman was the No. 22 overall prospect in the 2022 class. He was the No. 3 overall quarterback prospect and No. 4th ranked in Texas.
Weigman was part of the historic 2022 A&M class which was ranked No. 1 in the country and featured a total of eight 5-star prospects.
If Weigman were to transfer, he would join classmates Walter Nolen, Evan Stewart, and LT Overton among others who have moved on from A&M.
The transfer portal window opens. Dec. 9 and last until Dec. 28.
In 2023, Weigman started the first four games of the season before suffering a season-ending injury. He returned as the starter in 2024 but missed three games with a shoulder injury.
Reed filled in during his absence from the starting lineup. Weigman then started against No. 9 Missouri on Oct. 5, completing 18 of 22 passes for 276 yards, while adding 33 yards rushing on five carries in the 41-10 win.
Two weeks later, he went 15 of 25 for 217 yards and one score in the 34-24 win at Mississippi State.
In high school, Weigman starred at Bridgeland High School in Cypress. As a senior, he led Bridgeland to the 6A Region II championship game and racked up 34 touchdowns and nearly 2,900 total yards during that season.
