HOUSTON — Former Houston Oilers cornerback Chris Dishman has been named the new head football coach at Texas Southern University.
During his time in the NFL, Dishman played for Washington, Kansas City and Minnesota, but the bulk of his career was in Houston, where he played from 1988 until 1996. He was twice named to the NFL Pro Bowl.
Dishman talked to KHOU 11’s Matt Musil on Friday, the day of the big announcement.
“First off, Thank God for the opportunity,” he said. “I’ve been coaching for over 19 years and always wanted to be a head coach. Thanks to TSU, Tiger Nation, and thank you to the City of Houston for welcoming me back and treating us like family.”
