HOUSTON — We're less than two months away from the college football national championship game that will be played in Houston.
The game will be played on January 8, but there are events happening for people of all ages leading up to the big day.
One of the events is the AT&T Playoff Playlist Live, which is a FREE three-day concert happening from Jan. 5-7 at the Shell Energy Stadium.
On Thursday, organizers announced the following artists will be performing:
- Friday, Jan 5 -- KIDZ BOP
- Saturday, Jan 6 -- Latto and Jack Harlow
- Sunday, Jan 7 -- Megan Moroney, Jake Owen and Jon Pardi
Gates for the ATT Playoff Playlist Live will open at 6 p.m. each day. Fans will need to pre-register for concert tickets on the CFBPlayoff mobile app to receive a concert QR code. Then, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the day of the concert, fans can show their concert QR code at the George R. Brown Convention Center to receive a wristband, which will serve as their ticket guaranteeing entry into the concerts.
Other events leading up to the national championship include the Playoff Fan Central, which is a three-day family-friendly event at the George R Brown Convention Center. The event will feature games, clinics and exhibits celebrating college football and its history.
"This one is a college football amusement park," said CFP executive director Bill Hancock.
There is also the Taste of the Championship dining experience and fundraiser happening on Sunday, Jan. 7. It'll be at Union Station at Minute Maid Park. Tickets are on sale. Chefs will be named in a couple of weeks.
On the Sunday before the game, there will be a Trophy Trot, raising money for teachers. You can register online.
Media Day will be held on Jan. 6 at GRB. It's a free event where fans will be able to watch interviews.
