POINT COMFORT, Texas -- An explosion at the Formosa Plastics plant in Point Comfort, Texas injured a dozen people.
The New Jersey-based company says the flash fire happened around 1 p.m. Thursday. The fire was put out 40 minutes later.
Company officials said one person was flown by helicopter to a burn center in San Antonio with critical injuries. At least 11 other people were hurt in the blast, but the severity of their injuries is unknown.
The company has not said what caused the blast. Officials did say production was not disrupted.
Point Comfort is located about 125 miles southwest of Houston on the Gulf coast.
