THE QUESTION
Is there a date when election ads must end?
THE SOURCES
THE ANSWER
There is no date when election ads must end.
WHAT WE FOUND
According to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), there are no provisions under the Federal Elections Campaign Act of 1971 or any other FEC regulations that call for an end date for the broadcast of political ads.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) told the KHOU 11 Verify Team, that they also do not have any rules on an expiration date for the political ads.
The FCC says political ads break down into two different types of categories. One is for candidate ads and the other is referred to as 'issue ads'. Issue ads that can advocate for or against any topic generally can run throughout the year.
