HOUSTON — A viral claim about Texas Children's Hospital has caused some parents to worry, so KHOU 11 News decided to find out if it was true.
In the post that people are talking about, a doctor named Mary Talley Bowden claimed Texas Children's sent an email to the parent of an unvaccinated child giving them 60 days to find another healthcare provider unless they decided to vaccinate the child.
Bowden was outspoken against vaccine mandated during the pandemic and was suspended from Methodist Hospital for falsely claiming it was turning away unvaccinated patients. She later resigned and filed a defamation lawsuit, which was dismissed.
As of Thursday, her tweet about Texas Children's had been viewed nearly 500,000 times.
So, KHOU 11 went to the hospital for answers.
In a statement, the hospital simply said, "This is not true. Texas Children’s Hospital takes care of all children regardless of their vaccination."
So, no, Texas Children's is not turning away unvaccinated patients and parents do not need to look for new healthcare providers.
