HOUSTON — Bluebonnets are in full bloom, and many of you are in search of the perfect spot for photos with the beautiful state flower.
Bluebonnet road trips are a Texas tradition, but you don't have to leave the Houston area to find prime spots.
We've got you covered with 11 suggestions:
1. Memorial Park - 6501 Memorial Drive, Houston
You can park along the loop running trail and find them along Memorial Drive.
2. McGovern Centennial Garden – 1500 Hermann Drive, Houston
The bluebonnets are located in the Aris Garden.
3. Rob Fleming Park – 6055 Creekside Forest Drive, Spring
This Woodlands park has some large bluebonnet patches. It’s also a great place for families to play and have a picnic
4. Terry Hershey Park – 15200 Memorial Drive, Houston
Bluebonnets can be spotted from Dairy Ashford St. The park itself is also good for playgrounds, fishing and hiking trails.
5. Mercer Botanic Gardens – 22306 Aldine Westfield Road, Humble
The area near the Children’s Garden contains the largest bluebonnet patch, but visitors can find them throughout the East Side Gardens.
6. Watonga Parkway Park – 4100 Watonga Blvd., Houston
KHOU 11 found a large patch of bluebonnets near De Milo St., but they are blooming on both sides of White Oak Bayou.
7. Telfair Community – 121 Telfair Blvd., Sugar Land
Residents in the Telfair community have spotted bluebonnets blooming in their neighborhood near the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land, which is at New Territory and University Blvd.
8. Willow Waterhole Greenway – 5300 Gasmer, Houston
There is a field of bluebonnets easily accessible from Clematis Lane.
9. Blessington Farms - 510 Chisholm Trail, Wallis
The bluebonnets are in a small area in their Farm Funland, which id perfect for photos.
10. Willow Waterhole Greenspace – 5201 S Willow Drive, Houston
The green spaces at the Willow Waterhole Conservation Reserve, located in the Westbury area near the intersection of South Post Oak Road and South Main Street, have plenty of patches of bluebonnets. The conserve land offers Houstonians recreational opportunities.
11. Washington on the Brazos State Historic Site – 23400 Park Rd 12, Washington, TX
The bluebonnets have not yet bloomed, but in due time you’ll be able to see the flowers in all their glory.
