Texas murder victim's parents say they've been victimized again

The parents of Faran Khan, who was murdered in an Allen park more than two years ago say they've been victimized again. A Collin County jury acquitted a suspect in their son's death.

ALLEN, Texas Faran Khan was killed more than two years ago in an Allen park. The 21-year-old cricket player went there to practice.

But a fight with three men ended with Khan stabbed to death with a tire iron.

Now, his family feels they've been victimized again.

The argument on the basketball court turned lethal. When it was over, Agha Faran Khan lay dead, after being hit and stabbed with a tire iron.

Initially, two men were charged, including Richard Garrett Hughes, 18 at the time. Hughes would be the only person indicted and tried for Khan's murder.

There's no justice, said Khan's mother, Sania Khan. You tell me: A guy is dead, and three people walk away. Is that justice?

This was the second time Hughes faced a murder charge. A mistrial was declared with a deadlocked jury in the first trial last June.

This time around, prosecutors portrayed Hughes as an accomplice, while defense lawyers argued Hughes did not deliver the fatal blows.

He was acquitted.

After this injustice, I feel as if I have been let down big-time, Sania Khan said. And if I don't stand up, I'm going to let down other kids. I'm going to let down Faran.

The victim's father, Agha Khan, said he has lost faith in the justice system he once trusted.

Justice is for all. This is not justice for all. There is no justice here, he said. Do we see any justice here, when a person is dead and no one is held accountable?

Even though the trial ended in Hughes being declared innocent, the Khans say their fight for justice in their son's killing is far from over.

Sania Khan vows to stage protests at the courthouse and at the Allen Police Department.

I'm not going to rest, she said. My son was killed. I'm his mom. I owe this to him.
