TEXAS CITY, Texas An armed robbery reported at a check-cashing business forced the school district to lockdown Texas City High School and a nearby elementary school, an official said.
The armed man, wearing a tan, hooded shirt entered the business in the 1800 block of Palmer Highway, a Texas City police spokesman said. No injuries or shots fired were reported.
The man was reported to have left the scene in a white Ford Taurus, police said.
The high school and Kohfeldt Elementary, which are about a block away from where the robbery happened, and the school administration building remained locked down at 11 a.m., a school spokeswoman said. The lockdowns were lifted about 11:45 a.m., the district said.
