Teachers, workers and even the superintendent stayed late to help care for the children - cooking meals and entertaining them.

As of 5 a.m. Wednesday there were still about 60 children at the school. The children slept there overnight until their parents could come to pick them up. Cots and blankets were provided for the children.

Many drivers across the area were forced to abandon their vehicles late Tuesday when roadways became flooded. The KHOU 11 Weather Team is closely monitoring the potential for more flooding as more storms and rain move in from Wednesday night until Saturday evening.
