CONROE, Texas — A 30-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old child is in custody in Montgomery County after officials there say the suspect planned to run away to Mexico.
Jose Manuel Tiscareno Hernandez is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. He was arrested in Conroe on Saturday, where he is being held in the county jail with a immigration hold due to his legal status and the nature of the allegations against him.
Investigators first searched Hernandez’s home on Gladstell on Thursday, but he was not home, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. They were there for a search warrant investigating the aggravated sexual assault of a an 11-year-old, the sheriff’s office said Saturday in a news release.
Detectives received information Hernandez planned to head back to Mexico, where he had been deported “on multiple occasions” according to the sheriff’s office.
An arrest warrant had been filed Friday and investigators searched a separate location to collect additional evidence, the sheriff’s office said.
Law enforcement officials were able to arrest Hernandez in Conroe on Saturday.
