Suspect arrested after gun threat at Pasadena ISD high school

A 28-year-old man police believe threatened to bring a gun on a Pasadena ISD school campus was arrested Wednesday morning.

PASADENA, Texas Sam Rayburn High School was put on lockdown Wednesday morning after reports that a man was headed to the campus with a gun.

Pasadena police said they got a call sometime before 9 a.m. Wednesday that an armed man wanted to harm a person at Sam Rayburn. They notified Pasadena ISD police, who put the school on lockdown.

Officers from both departments were dispatched to the home of 28-year-old Jason Sifuentes in the 900 block of Hector Avenue, a little over a mile away from the school.

Police arrested Sifuentes within 15 minutes of the tip. They found him behind the wheel of his Ford Expedition in the driveway of his home.

A .22 caliber rifle was found in Sifuentes vehicle at the time of his arrest, police said.

Sifuentes was charged with burglary of a habitation. Investigators said they believe he broke in to his ex-girlfriend s home and stole a gun.

Sifuentes was never a Pasadena ISD student.

The Sam Rayburn campus was taken off lockdown at 10:22 a.m., following a thorough security sweep by Pasadena ISD police.

Although the police report indicates that the individual arrested intended to harm one of our students, we must emphasize that the individual was never on the Sam Rayburn campus on Wednesday, said Al Carter, the district s Interim Director of Communications. No weapon was brought to campus at any time.

It was not immediately clear who the target of the threat was.

The investigation was ongoing Wednesday.
