Sugar Land police nab suspect in First Colony Mall shooting, robbery

SUGAR LAND, Texas Sugar Land police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shootingat First Colony Mall.

Travanti Bruce, 20, is charged with aggravated robbery.

Police said Travanti, an employee at Sheik Shoes, partnered with a second suspect, Rafael Fabian Paiz, 21, to steal night deposits from the Sheik Shoes store manager.

Investigators said the manager and another employee were walking to their vehicles on January 9 around 10:30 p.m. when they noticed a man in a grey hooded sweatshirt and black jeans talking on a cell phone near a tree.

When the manager and employee parted ways, police said the man in the sweatshirt approached the manager from behind and demanded money.

Police said the suspect pulled out a pistol, and the manager wrestled with him for control of the weapon.

As the other employee rushed over to help, a shot was fired.

Police said the suspect grabbed the night deposit and fled on foot.

No one was injured.

Police have issued a warrant for Paiz, who is still at large.
