A Beaumont gator rescue made a big catch recently, but it wasn’t a gator Gary Saurage caught at a Fannett home.
Saurage posted a photo of himself and a 4-foot 2-inch cottonmouth snake. He told KBMT in Beaumont that cottonmouths rarely get to that size. The Smithsonian National Zoological Park reports cottonmouths “reach 30 to 48 inches in length, occasionally up to 74 inches.”
Saurage added he is planning to put the snake on display at Gator Country, which rescues alligators and other reptiles.
