HOUSTON – One of the trendiest party places in Houston sits atop a turn of the century downtown hotel.

The iconic Hotel ICON has been a popular backdrop for music videos (Tamar Davis), big screen movies ("The Patriot Act") and YV programs ("Sweetie Pies" and "The Preacher's Daughter").

"It used to be an old Union National Bank between 1911 to 1984. Guests and visitors are familiar with the huge bank vault door that still stands behind the reception desk," hotel spokeswoman Rachel Earls explained.

What directors and partygoers love best is the three-story penthouse that boasts a bedroom suite sandwiched between the two reception floors.

"It's perfect for any romantic proposals, small wedding ceremonies, receptions, retirement parties, birthday parties," Earls said.

She's not kidding. As she walks through the third floor, Earls showed KHOU 11 News an icemaker, dishwasher, two televisions and electronics for DJs to hook up sound systems.

KHOU 11 News asked, "Does it ever get a little crazy?"  Earles replied, "Of course it does."

But the big draw for this suite is the view from the top floor terrace that overlooks downtown Houston.

Among the big names who have graced this terrace? "Blackish" star Anthony Anderson, the popular Jonas Brothers, Tilda Swinton, Magic Johnson and Paris Hilton.

As a party venue, the prices starts at $2,500 a night. As a room, the tab is $1,500 a night. For that perfect view, it's priceless.
