HOUSTON - Deborah Duncan, KHOU's Great Day Houston talk show host, was named one of H Texas Magazine's Most Beautiful Houstonians. Duncan was one of 26 locals named in an article by the Houston magazine.
The candidates were selected based on their unwavering community service, according to the magazine.
Duncan grew up in a military family that moved often when she was young. After attending five elementary schools, she became accustomed to making new friends.
She completed grade school in San Antonio, where her father retired from the military. Duncan went to the University of Texas in Austin and earned a degree in Radio-Television-Film.
She worked in radio for a couple of years before switching to television as a reporter in Austin. She later moved to Dallas where she started Good Morning Texas at WFAA-TV.
Deborah and her co-host on Good Morning Texas were eventually asked to anchor the morning news.
After three years behind the news desk, Duncan moved to New York City to host a talk show for Lifetime Television called, "Our Home." While she loved the big apple, her heart remained in Texas.
Duncan returned to her news roots in December 2002 when she joined KHOU-TV Channel 11. She spent several years as an anchor, then became the host of KHOU's daily talk show, Great Day Houston.
Duncan finds joy in helping others and is very involved in the Houston community.
She is a member of the national board of directors of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers and is also a board member of the Palmer Drug Abuse Program and Houston Sober Center.
As a TV personality, she uses her talent to inform and inspire not only those in Texas, but around the world.
Duncan has chaired numerous fundraising events for a variety of organizations. With her upbeat personality, she has become one of the most popular emcees in the city.
H Texas published the article in honor of the column's 10-year anniversary. Those at H Texas said the candidates were selected based on their ability to spread joy, lift spirits, encourage and inspire others through service.

Deborah Duncan has been a media personality for 25 years, anchoring news and hosting talk shows in Austin, Dallas, New York and currently Great Day Houston on KHOU-TV, Channel 11.
