HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — The Primary Election in Texas on March 5 is fast approaching and we want you to be prepared when you head to the polls. Here's some important information you should know before you go vote!
The last day to register to vote is February 5. You must be 18 years old by March 5 to cast a ballot. Early voting starts on February 20 and runs through March 1. February 23 is your last day to apply for a mail-in ballot.
For the first time, Harris County is holding a joint Primary Election between the Democratic and Republican parties, which means the two parties will share voting locations and equipment.
How to check voter registration status
Harris County residents can confirm their voter registration status on HarrisVotes.com. You can look yourself up by name, address or voter registration number.
If you're not registered, you can do so online by Monday, February 5.
Where do you go to vote?
You can find your nearest polling center by searching your address on HarrisVotes.com. The website lists 77 polling locations throughout Harris County. HarrisVotes emphasized that voting center locations are not finalized and that more locations will be added to the map as they are confirmed.

Bring a valid ID
When you go vote, do not forget to bring a valid form of ID. Harris Votes lists the following forms of photo ID that are acceptable:
- Texas Driver License
- Texas Election Identification Certificate
- Texas Personal Identification Card
- Texas Handgun License
- U.S. Military ID Card (If it has your photo)
- U.S. Citizenship Certificate (If it has your photo)
- U.S. Passport
