HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Voters will decide who will fill two more slots on the Harris County Appraisal District Board of Directors Saturday during a runoff election.
The significance of this election is that this one could impact who helps decide your home’s value.
One of the three board positions is already filled, but since neither of the other two candidates received 50 percent of the vote, this run-off will make the decision.
Melissa Noriega and Kyle Scott are running for At-Large, Place 2 while Pelumi Adeleke and Ericka McCrutcheon are running for At-Large, Place 3.
The board members elected do not assess property values, but the board does have an impact on who is hired to do that work, in part by bringing in a chief appraiser and filling the appraisal review board.
The Harris County Appraisal District is the largest in the state and ranks at the top in the nation. With growing housing construction and housing needs, this may be something many people want to watch and participate in.
