PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas The arrest of legendary quarterback Warren Moon s ex-wife for public lewdness came after several people at a trail-ride camp pointed at her having sex, police said Wednesday.
Felicia Moon, 55, and her boyfriend, James Watson, were arrested Monday night around 10:45 p.m. at the overnight campsite off FM 1098 in Waller County, Prairie View Police Chief Jason Barrett said.
Barrett said that officers had increased patrols in the area because of reported thefts several days before in the trail-ride camp, which travels from Prairie View to Memorial Park in Houston every year preceding the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Individualspointingat a male and female alerted the officer (and he) subsequently observed the male and female engaged in a lewd sexual act, Barrett said, adding that the officer had noticed there had been children inside the camp.
KHOU 11 News hasn t been able to reach Moon or Watson for their side of the story. No one answered the door at her last known address in Fort Bend County.
Trail-ride organizers insisted they had known nothing about the arrest initially and stressed it had nothing to do with us, according to trail-rider Fabin Adams.
In Houston, Felicia Moon was a household name. In huge case back in mid- 90s, a jury acquitted Warren Moon of assaulting her. She initially told police her husband beat her, but later insisted she hit him first.
Prosecutors went ahead with the case anyway, but eventually a jury sided with the Houston Oilers quarterback.
The couple divorced in 2002.
