CONROE, Texas More details have emerged in the shooting of a Conroe police officer after authorities Wednesday released dashboard cam video of the incident.

Police said Sgt. James Kelemen responded Saturday to a report around 4:00 p.m. in the 330 block of North Loop 336 east that an armed man wasthreatening the employee of Flowers Bakerywith a shotgun.

Police said once Kelemen got to the scene, the suspect later identified as 54-year-old James Hill began pointing his gun at the officer.

In the video Kelemen can be heard telling Hill to drop the gun, repeating his orders several times.

Two minutes into the standoff, Hill opened fire, striking Kelemen twice. Officers returned fire and killed Hill.

Police said a medical helicopter rushed Kelemen to Houston with serious injuries. Doctors were not able to save his right eye.

Authorities said the circumstances surrounding Hill s threats were still fuzzy. Police said he slashed the tires of several cars parked at the bakery before the shooting, but it was still not known what led to his actions.

Meanwhile, Kelemen, a Galveston native, is back home from the hospital recovering.
