PASADENA, Texas Two Pasadena police officers were indicted by a Harris County grand jury Wednesday over separate incidents concerning narcotics investigations, officials with the Pasadena Police Department said.

In a press release sent out by Pasadena police on Thursday, officials said the charges against Garivey pertain to conversations he had with an assistant DA. In the conversations, police said Garivey denied the existence of a witness who d provided the officer with info that led to the arrest of a suspect for cocaine possession.

Police said the charges against Leal pertain to non-factual written statements the officer made in an offense report and defendant charge sheet. Police said the statements concerned circumstances which led to the arrest of a person found with about three pounds of marijuana.

Pasadena police said they learned of one of the incidents through a written complaint from the Harris County DA s Office in February, and the other was reported by the officer s supervisor in March.

In both incidents, police said investigations were initiated by both the DA s office and the Internal Affairs Division of the Pasadena Police Department.

Both officers have been relieved of duty with pay, pending the outcome of the Internal Affairs investigations.
