HOUSTON — Travel Tuesday has been around for a few years but is seeing a surge in interest.
For the uninitiated, it is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving when companies like airlines and cruise lines offer deals. It has joined the ranks of Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a day save cash on a big purchase.
According to a new report from McKinsey and Company, search interest for Travel Tuesday surged over 500% between 2021 and 2023.
And it looks like this year is no different. That’s thanks to an ongoing trend. More people prefer spending money on travel than shopping. Wallet Hub says in 2024, 58% of Americans would rather pay for the experiences you get travelling than buy another material gift.
So how can you save the most money on Travel Tuesday?
If you are looking for a specific trip set up an alert, services like Google Flight and Hopper will let you know when prices drop on your destination. Experts also suggest snatching a deal as soon as you see it because some have a limited supply.
