HOUSTON — Someone woke up Tuesday with more than 213 million reasons to smile. That’s because one ticket sold in Monday night's Powerball drawing hit the jackpot, matching all five numbers and the Powerball.

But don’t rushing to look at your ticket…unless you’ve been to Pennsylvania recently. That’s where the ticket worth $213.8 million was sold, according to Powerball.

The winning numbers were 9, 22, 57, 67, 68 and red Powerball 14.

The person holding the winning ticket now has a big decision to make – either take the annuitized prize of $213.8 million or a lump sum payment of $106.4 million. Whichever way the winner goes, that prize money is before taxes.

Monday was the sixth time the Powerball jackpot was won so far this year.  Here are the previous amounts, dates and states the other winning tickets were sold in.

  • Jan. 1, 2024 - $842.4 million – Michigan
  • April 6, 2024 - $1.326 billion – Oregon
  • May 6, 2024 - $214.9 million – Florida
  • June 10, 2024 - $226.6 million – New Jersey
  • July 3, 2024 - $139.3 million – Ohio

As for Texas, the biggest winners in last night’s drawing had tickets worth $300. That went to eight Texas tickets that matched four of five numbers and selected the ‘Power Play,’ but missed the Powerball.

The next Powerball drawing, which will be on Wednesday, is worth $10 million. The Mega Millions drawing on Tuesday night is worth more than $212 million.
