Taylen Mosley was reported missing after his mother, Pashun Jeffery, 20, was found stabbed to death in her apartment on March 30.
The next day, an alligator was spotted about 13 miles away from Jeffrey's apartment with something in his mouth. That's where police found Taylen's body inside the jaws of an alligator in Lake Maggiore.
Thomas Mosley, 21, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He is accused of killing his son Taylen and Jeffery.
Family, friends and loved ones gathered on April 7 in St. Petersburg to lay Jeffery and Taylen Mosley to rest.
Jeffery's family described Taylen as a "sweet and happy toddler" who "loved his mom." Her family said when she had a break at work, she would FaceTime the boy "so that she could spend every moment possible with him."
Jeffery was described as a mom dedicated to making a better life for her son, CBS News reported.
