Watch this Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in over-the-top aerial display

Viewers can see one of Boeing’s 787 “Dreamliner” widebody jets in a jaw-dropping aerial display thanks to a new video out Thursday (July 7).

Produced by Boeing and Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways (ANA), the video comes as the U.S. jetmaker seeks to build anticipation for next week’s Farnborough Air Show near London.

A remarkably steep climb immediately after takeoff is perhaps the video's top highlight, but enthusiasts will enjoy others that include a touch-and-go landing and – in Boeing’s words – “high-banking turns that show wing flex.”

The video – recorded over Washington state – is from a practice run by the jet, which will perform a similar aerial display at the Farnborough Airshow.

It also comes ahead of Boeing’s 100th anniversary, an event that coincidentally will fall during the weeklong show. Farnborough, which alternates years with the Paris Airshow, is one of the biggest annual events in the aviation industry.

Boeing gave a similar tease prior to last year’s Paris show, rolling out a video of a Vietnam Airlines 787-9 on an equally acrobatic aerial display

At this year’s event in Farnborough, the performance of the ANA Dreamliner will be part of a theme focusing on Boeing’s history.

ANA was the first airline in the world to put the Dreamliner into commercial service. It flew the jet with paying passengers onboard for the first time in October 2012 on flight from Tokyo to Hong Kong.

This year’s display will be on a 787-9, a larger variant of the 787-8 Dreamliner that debuted with ANA. The plane flying at the airshow (and in the video) is decorated with decals featuring Mount Fuji and cherry blossoms, two of that nation’s iconic symbols.

ANA will become the first Japanese airline to take part in one of the so-called “demonstration flights” at one of the world’s major international airshows, Boeing and ANA say in a joint statement.

The 787 performing in the video (and at Farnborough) is scheduled to be delivered to ANA later this month. It will become ANA’s 13th 787-9 and 49th overall model of the Dreamliner. ANA is the world's largest operator of the 787 Dreamliner.
