Free-agent guard-forward Evan Turner reached a four-year, $70 million contract agreement with the Portland Trail Blazers, a person with direct knowledge of negotiations told USA TODAY Sports.

The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly until the deal is official after the free agency moratorium ends on July 7.

It’s a huge payday for Turner, who signed a two-year, $6.7 million contract with the Boston Celtics in 2014. With Boston, Turner turned into a versatile wing who defended, rebounded and scored. Last season, he averaged 10.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists.
