HOUSTON Houston police are searching for a suspect who brutally beat a woman and left her lifeless body in a southeast Houston street early Monday.
A resident in the 5400 block of Chennault near Cherbourg heard a woman crying for help around 1:40 a.m. The resident then looked outside and sawthe woman lying on the sidewalk covered in blood.
Paramedics were called, but Theresa Landry was already dead by the time they arrived.
Landry, who was in her 60s, was known as Mother Theresa in the neighborhood because she helped anyone in need.Her death left everyone who knew and loved her stunned.
She s the neighborhood grandmother, you know she s the neighborhood mom, said her daughter, Charise Landry. She cooks for everybody, she cleans for everybody, anything you ask her to do, she ll do.She didn t bother nobody.
That is why so many are having a hard time understanding why someone would want to brutally murder her.
She s just a quiet, humble person.She would give you the shirt off her back, she would give you the shoes off her feet, her daughter said.
The communityis hoping Mother Theresa s killer will be caught soon.
