HOUSTON -- A mother and daughter were tied up and held at gunpoint early Monday morning.

Around 5 a.m., five armed and masked men kicked in the family s back fence and then made their way into the house located in the 18,000 block of South Wimbledon Drive.

Investigators said the second the daughter heard glass breaking she grabbed her gun and tried to protect her mother. The men held weapons to the victims heads, tied their hands and feet, and left them in the bathroom, deputies said.

Oh my goodness, we have a security guard that doesn t do much around here, said Norma, a neighbor who didn t give her last name.

Neighbors said there has been a rash of home invasions and burglaries. Several weeks ago, Elizabeth Garcia was sleeping when three teens tried to break into her house.

They were knocking and kept on knocking. They went through the backyard, they broke the fence. They had a black mask on, said Garcia. It makes me mad. We are trying to be good neighbors. And they try to take what you worked hard for.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
