LEAGUE CITY, Texas A driver who survived a rollover wreck in a heavy downpour on Interstate 45 died Tuesday when his pickup was struck by another automobile, authorities said.
Michael Hansen, 51, of Pasadena, a contract worker for BP, was commuting to work when the crash occurred at 4:55 a.m. near FM 646, a spokesman with the Galveston County Medical Examiner s Office said.
There was a witness to the crash, League City police said in a statement. Hansen was headed south during a period of heavy rain, lost control of his pickup and struck the center retaining wall, police said.
The pickup rolled and came to rest in the center lane on its roof, police said.
Hansen tried to get out of the pickup from the driver s side but another pickup struck the overturned truck on the passenger side, police said.
Hansen was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
An ensuing wreck investigation slowed traffic during the morning commute, according to traffic bulletins.
