Houston woman accused of strangling girlfriend after argument over STD, court records say

Shania Laneice Turner is accused of strangling 18-year-old Tierra Horn to death after an argument about STD concerns.

HOUSTON — A Houston woman has been charged with the murder of an 18-year-old whose body was found near Buffalo Bayou on Jan. 5.

On Thursday, Shania Laneice Turner, 24, was arrested in connection with 18-year-old Tierra Horn's death. She was in a “dating relationship” with Horn, according to court records.

Turner is accused of strangling Horn to death after an argument that stemmed from Turner’s belief that Horn gave her an STD.

In probable cause court Friday, a judge said there was surveillance video evidence that linked Turner to the crime.

After Turner allegedly killed Horn, prosecutors said she left the body on a hiking trail.

Horn was reported missing before her body was found near Buffalo Bayou around an apartment complex along Nance Street. Houston police pronounced her dead at the scene.

According to the medical examiner's office, Horn's death was caused by "compression" to her neck.

On Friday, a judge set Turner's bond at $100,000. State prosecutors had previously asked for the bond to be set at $500,000.

Turner is expected to appear in court again on Jan. 16.
