HOUSTON — Vice President Kamala Harris will be back in Houston for the second time in just over a week for three different events between Wednesday and Thursday.
The vice president, who is the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, will be back in town Wednesday afternoon for a private campaign event before making her way to downtown Houston to meet with the Sigma Gamma Rho sorority. It’s their 60th International Biennial Boule, which is being held at the George R Brown Convention Center.
Harris is no stranger to Black Greek life, as a member of the popular Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, or AKA.
The GRB is the same place where nearly a week ago, the vice president was the keynote speaker for the annual American Federation of Teachers convention. This was after she met with Houston and Harris County leaders to discuss recovery efforts after Hurricane Beryl.
After Wednesday’s events, the vice president will attend the funeral for Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee on Thursday at Fallbrook Church, where she’s expected to deliver the eulogy.
KHOU 11 will stream the events that are open to the media. Download the KHOU 11 app to get alerts when they begin.
