HOUSTON — It was a nightmare at George Bush Intercontinental Airport Monday after all incoming United Airlines flights were grounded.
The airline said the ground stop was weather-related, however, other flights with other airlines in and out of the airport were not impacted.
Outside the doors of United's terminal at Bush Airport, traffic didn't move an inch for several hours.
Video showed drivers laying on their horns out of frustration, making the brutally cold Houston evening even worse.
KHOU 11 asked United about the ground stop to see why it was the only airline at Bush Airport under a ground stop. The airline's media relations department didn't answer the question but sent over a statement that read:
“Severe winter weather conditions continue to disrupt our operations including at IAH. We know our customers are eager to get to their destinations. Our teams at the airports and contact centers are working to best serve our customers under difficult conditions.”
As of 10:30 p.m. Monday, there were no more ground stops or delays at Bush and Hobby airports, according to the Federal Aviation Administration's National Airspace System Status.
