Typical Houston weather will be dominate this week

While the temperatures will be hot this week, it won't be out of the ordinary for this time of year. In fact looking ahead all the way to the 4th of July, there's not much to speak of locally that's interesting.

HOUSTON — It's almost July. It's hot and usually there's a chance of a passing shower each afternoon. For those who want to quit reading now, there's nothing really pressing that you just need to know.

Houston over the next 10 days will be living up to its name: a city of stifling humidity and oppressive heat who's citizens are often drenched in sweat.

Life is good right now, relatively speaking. The tropics are quiet, there's no "death ridge" in the future for our area that would send the mercury soaring into the hundreds. There's no big rain in the forecast aside from your everyday, pop-up thunderstorm that provides a brief cool down and a dazzling light show now and again.

The weather this week will be a carbon copy of the previous day: hot but not too hot. A passing shower but not a show stopper. Average highs this time of year are in the low 90s (92°F to be exact) and that's precisely where we'll be the next 7 days.

While many of us have our eyes on the coming 4th of July holiday, it's still a bit too far out to nail down a forecast with any certainty. If I just had to throw something out there, I'd say there's a moderate chance of showers that day with highs in the lower 90s. That will change as we get closer, guaranteed.
