EL PASO, Texas — A Texas couple were victims of a deadly incident in a jacuzzi at a resort in Mexico on Monday night, according to the General Prosecutor's Office of Justice of the State of Sonora.

According to CBS affiliate KDBC, the couple has been identified as Jorge Guillen and Lizette Zambrano of El Paso. They were staying at the Sonoran Sea Resort.

Guillen died after being electrocuted while Zambrano suffered injuries after being shocked, the General Prosecutor’s Office said.

The General Prosecutor’s Office said this happened around 8:30 p.m. at a private condominium in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora. They are currently investigating the origin of the electrical discharge.

The General Prosecutor’s Office also said they were aware of a video posted to social media that appeared to show the aftermath of the deadly incident. In the video, people can be seen huddled around the jacuzzi and running for help.

Family members told KDBC that Zambrano remains in critical condition.

A GoFundMe has been started for the couple with more than $24,000 raised so far.

“Our best friends have experienced a horrible accident. Jorge had a heart of gold and was always there for family and friends. The love they shared was one for ages,” a message on the GoFundMe says.

According to its website, the Sonoran Sea Resort is about a four-hour drive from Phoenix and Tuscon, Arizona.
