HOUSTON – A train derailment led to a hazmat scene and one person being taken to the hospital in northeast Houston, according to the fire department.
The Houston Fire Department was called to 7115 North Loop near Kirkpatrick around 7:23 a.m. Wednesday.
According to HFD, a Union Pacific train car came off the track and was struck by the train car behind it. The first car was empty. The second car contained Sodium Hydro Sulfide and leaked but has since been contained.
One person was taken to the hospital for evaluation. The extent of the injuries involved was not disclosed.
The scene was declared under control by 9 a.m.
