HOUSTON — A toddler died in a crash Wednesday in northeast Houston.
It happened along Tidwell Road near Mesa Drive around 6 p.m.
According to Houston police, a 15-year-old boy was driving a Honda Pilot eastbound on Tidwell when he crashed into a steep ditch. A 2-year-old boy was also in the vehicle but wasn't secured in a child seat, police said.
While the toddler wasn't ejected from the SUV, he was injured. He was taken to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the 15-year-old driver wasn't impaired and only suffered minor injuries.
The identities of the teen and the toddler have not been released.
No charges have been filed, police said. They also said the investigation was ongoing.
