THE WOODLANDS, Texas — A troubling discovery was made Tuesday at a park in The Woodlands.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation after they said a fetus was discovered in an urn in a pond. On Thursday, the sheriff's office said there did not appear to be any medical intervention with the fetus and that it was a miscarriage.
The urn was found just before 4 p.m. Tuesday at Copper Sage Park on South Golden Arrow Circle in The Woodlands.
The sheriff’s office said a Woodlands Township Park Ranger made the discovery. When the park ranger took a closer look, they found a fetus in an early stage of development inside the urn.
Death investigators from the Montgomery County Forensic Center and detectives from the sheriff’s office were called out to the scene.
Following an autopsy from the Montgomery County Forensics Center, the sheriff's office said the fetus was at 12 to 13 weeks gestation.
The sheriff said this was not a criminal offense and that no crime had been committed.
