World's largest 900 ft. Ferris wheel proposed in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO - The Federal Aviation Administration is looking into the possibility of a 900 ft. in San Antonio, according to an online proposal.

SAN ANTONIO - The Federal Aviation Administration is looking into the possibility of a 900 ft. in San Antonio, according to an online proposal.

This would be the world's largest Ferris wheel, compared to the 550 ft. High Roller Observation Wheel in Las Vegas. It would also be taller than the Tower of the Americas at 750 ft. and more than three times taller than the Texas Star Ferris Wheel. The Texas State Fair staple is 212 ft. tall.

While spokesperson Lynn Lunsford said the FAA could not release further information on the proposal, the Ferris wheel would reportedly be located south of the Lone Star Brewery on property owned by CPS Energy.

Nora Castro, a representative for CPS Energy, said a broker for CPS put that property up for sale earlier in 2017. However, it was later taken off the market after CPS did not receive "market value" bids.

CPS said it's not clear who submitted the Ferris wheel proposal, and the company does not have further details. The FAA received the proposal Oct. 5.

The FAA also stipulates that the proposal has not been studied and outcomes "will be posted at a later date." It will also not be considering public comments on the proposal at this time.
