GRIMES COUNTY, Texas - People in one Grimes County neighborhood are living in fear after they say countless bombs went off in the area over the past few months.
"Just boom! Boom! It was driving us nuts," said resident Connie Cooper.
Cooper lives just over the trees from County Road 303. She says the explosions have been happening more and more over the past few months and occurred at all hours of the night. Some even shook her house.
"You can see here, this is one of the sites of the explosive or the incendiary event," said Lt. Daniel Wagnon with the Grimes County Sheriff's Office. "You can see damage to the tree limb that's lying on the ground."
During our time along CR 303, we noticed two small craters near the road. Both marked with orange flags.
"The sheriff's office launched an investigation and during that investigation we developed a suspect," said Wagnon.
Wagnon says local investigators, the ATF and even the FBI were just a few of the agencies that executed a search warrant at a residence along FM 1774. There, they found marijuana, firearms and items similar to those used in the events along CR 303.
The Grimes County Sheriff's Office says Waller resident Kristopher Walker was arrested for the marijuana and the firearms but hasn't been charged for the explosives yet.
However, he is the primary suspect and the investigation is ongoing.
"Anytime someone is involved in these type of things, we always want to know why," said Wagnon.
No one was injured but Cooper says the situation paints a bigger picture.
"You don't have to be a foreigner to be a terrorist," she said. "You don't have to be of a particular religion or a race. That was terror. We are terrified."
The Grimes County Sheriff's Office says Walker is being held in the Grimes County Jail without bond. Any charges related to the explosive or incendiary events would happen at the federal level.
The area where the events occurred is not for from where the Texas Renaissance Festival takes place.
