DENTON, Texas — A 21-year-old woman's body was found inside a Denton apartment Saturday morning. The apartment manager said the body was found in a bed.
The door to the woman's room was locked. She is believed to have died in her sleep.
Police say they don't suspect foul play either, but they're not ruling out anything. Their investigation is just beginning.
Right now, officials are trying to pinpoint exactly how and when the University of North Texas student died.
They believe her body was lying in her room at the Castle Rock apartments for several days without anyone knowing something was horribly wrong.
It was until just before 11:30 Saturday morning that police say a roommate smelled something foul and called 911.
When officers arrived at the complex on the 1500 block of Meadow Street, they found her in her room, which was locked. There was no sign someone broke in.
According to police, the apartment complex rents out rooms, so many times strangers -- typically college students -- share apartment units.
Neighbors told News 8 that roommates don't necessarily cross paths and see each other throughout the week.
Police swarmed this same apartment complex just before Christmas after a chilling home invasion robbery in which two people were killed.
