KINNEY COUNTY, Texas — Two people died Wednesday in a crash during a chase near the Texas-Mexico border, according to the Department of Public Safety.
DPS officials said it happened in Kinney County around 3 p.m.
According to investigators, law enforcement authorities were chasing a Dodge truck suspected of human smuggling when the truck lost control and crashed.
The truck left the road and rolled over, DPS officials said. Multiple people were ejected in the crash.
Two men died in the crash and three other occupants were airlifted to area hospitals with critical injuries. One person ran away from the scene, DPS officials said.
