HOUSTON — The Texas House Democratic Caucus officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris' bid for president after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race Sunday.
The caucus chair, Trey Martinez Fischer, made the announcement on X Monday saying, in part, "We are proud to be among the first state delegations to endorse Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States."
In a statement, the Texas HDC thanked Biden for his "decades of service, commitment to Democracy and love for America."
The caucus said the Biden-Harris administration created millions of high-paying jobs while investing in the future of the state's economy.
In the statement, the caucus described Harris as a "patriot who loves her country and her countrymen," and who as a daughter of immigrants, wants to build a country where every child has a chance to achieve the American Dream like many in "Texas know well."
"On behalf of our constituents and with hope for the future, we the undersigned, enthusiastically endorse Kamala Harris as our party's nominee for President of the United States," Texas HDC said.
