TEXAS, USA — Have you ever wondered which Texas college is the most aesthetically pleasing, or the one that is an architectural gem?
According to Architectural Digest, a monthly magazine, Texas has three of the prettiest college campuses in America.
That accolade was given to:
- Baylor University in Waco, Texas
- Rice University in Houston, Texas
- Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas
Architectural Digest scoured the country to find the prettiest college campuses in the U.S., taking into consideration both architectural legacy and setting. Sixty-four colleges made the list.
Baylor University
Baylor made the cut for its Georgian-style buildings and structures found across campus.
Baylor is the oldest continually operating university in Texas, chartered in 1845 by the Republic of Texas through the efforts of Baptist pioneers, according to its website. The campus stretches approximately 1,000 acres and is located on the Brazos River.
Rice University
Rice was featured for its California-esque appeal, thanks to the campus’ Mediterranean Revival style.
The 300-acre tree-lined campus, chartered in 1891, is about a mile away from Houston's Museum District.
Southern Methodist University
Architectural Digest added SMU to the list for the architectural design of its Dallas Hall building, which is similar to the University of Virginia’s Rotunda. Dallas Hall was SMU's first building, AD said.
SMU's main campus, known as the Hilltop, is located on 234 acres in the heart of Dallas.
