AUSTIN, Texas – Michael Turner will plead guilty Friday for his role in the death of Colton Turner in 2014, his attorney confirmed to KVUE.
Steve Brand said Turner, 30, will plead guilty Friday to charges of reckless injury to a child by omission and tampering with evidence. Turner was initially booked into the Travis County Jail on Sept. 15, 2014 on a charge of injury to a child, according to jail records.
Meagan Work, Colton's mother and Michael's girlfriend, is also facing charges in connection to his death. Authorities allege Work and Turner buried Colton in a shallow grave in southeast Austin after he died in July 2014. His remains were found by police in September.
After he died, the Texas Legislature passed "Colton's Law," which gives law enforcement immediate access to the names of children and their parents who Child Protective Services is looking for. The information is put in the same database officers search during routine traffic stops to find warrants.
