IRVING, Texas The driver of a FedEx delivery truck was killed Monday evening when his vehicle was hit head-on by a pickup truck on Highway 114 in Irving.
The accident happened shortly after 7 o'clock in the eastbound lanes near the intersection with the President George Bush Turnpike.
A WFAA photojournalist at the scene said it appeared that the black pickup truck crossed the median and crashed into the FedEx truck. The driver of the pickup was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas for treatment.
No names were available.
The FedEx truck was split open by the impact and packages were strewn across the highway and into the median, where the vehicle came to a stop.
Traffic in both directions of Highway 114 was shut down during the accident investigation.
